Govt schools should be the First Preference: Goa CM

While felicitating the senior staff of the Goa Education department, Goa CM Pramod Sawant appealed to the parents to give first preference to the government schools. He was interacting with the media today (16 May) along with the Secretary (Education), Shri Prasad Lolayekar, Director of Education Shri Shailesh Zingade, Director of SCERT Meghana Shetgaonkar, and officials. All were elated with the remarkable achievement of 92.38% in the Goa Board SSC 2024 Examinations, with 41 out of 78 Government Schools attaining 100% results. Most of the other schools missed this mark by a whisker claimed the officials of the education department. 

Recognition of Govt schools Teachers Dedication and Student Success in Goa Schools

Sawant extended his heartiest congratulations to all the dedicated teachers and headmasters whose efforts have ensured exceptional results, especially among underprivileged students through extra and remedial classes. He said that, “We get average students who travel to or from a remote location and also do not have any tuition or coaching support”. It is our teachers who take the extra efforts by conducting special classes for these students, he added. He also stressed that the government schools do not filter students in STD 9, to acheive 100% results. This was possible only and only due to the efforts of the education department and also the efforts taken by the students.

He additionally mentioned that Goa’s Government Schools are undergoing comprehensive upgrades, including the introduction of Smart Classrooms, enhanced libraries, advanced laboratories, improved transport facilities, and well-trained staff to meet the academic needs of our students. He concluded by reiterating Govt.’s commitment to continue these developments, raising the standards of both academic infrastructure and human resources to build a bright academic future for the children of Goa.
