Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will inaugurate 109 projects today

Kolkata, 26 April (HS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is going to inaugurate 109 projects on Wednesday ahead of the panchayat elections. This program of the Chief Minister is proposed after holding a high-level meeting with the bureaucrats in the state secretariat. These projects will be implemented in different districts of the state. Secretariat sources said on Wednesday that senior officers of all departments have been asked to be present in the Chief Minister’s meeting.

According to sources, in the inauguration, priority will be given mainly to matters related to the infrastructural development of the rural areas of the state. The state government has spent around 1,100 crore on these projects. These new projects include five important bridges. Three of these notable bridges are the Setughat bridge at Bankura, the new bridge built at Chandrakona-Ghatal, and the bridge over the Deo River in the Jhargram district. The total cost of construction of these three bridges is 43 crore. Apart from this, Mamta will inaugurate many rural roads of the Pathashree and Rasashree projects. The Rastashree projects were first announced by Minister of State for Finance Chandrima Bhattacharya in her budget speech in February this year. On March 28, the Chief Minister launched this project for the construction of rural roads from Singur. In the words of a state government official, “In less than a month, several roads have been constructed under Rastashree projects. The chief minister will inaugurate all the roads completed during this period.”

In the month of April, 10.5 lakh applications have been accepted through the government camp. Mamta may also initiate the transfer of the first instalment of Lakshmi Bhandar to the bank accounts of those whose applications have been accepted. All the top bureaucrats of Navan and officers of every department have been compulsorily asked to be present. District officers will also participate in this meeting through a virtual medium. It may be noted that along with sending instructions to participate in this meeting, all the departments were instructed to submit their work review reports by April 19. The ministerial level bureaucrats have submitted the work papers of their offices by the 19th as per the instructions of the Chief Minister’s Office. It is believed that after examining the report, the Chief Minister can give necessary instructions to the ministers and bureaucrats in the meeting itself.
